Work Safe

Landcorp Farming has developed and implemented Work Safe as an occupational health and safety programme especially suited to its farming operations.

Culture

With a motto of "Landcorp - A safe place to farm" the Work Safe programme is focussed on a culture of safety where all staff are encouraged to routinely think about their own safety and that of colleagues. The Work Safe policy aims to support this culture with clear guidelines for the identification and management of hazards on each farm. For us safety means every Landcorp person being fit and well to enjoy home life, friends and other activities at the end of each working day.

Training for Safety

New farm employees have seven days' training with a focus on the significant hazards of farming: livestock handling, agrichemicals, tractors, ATVs and chainsaws. They are also instructed in first aid and hazard identification. Landcorp delivers Work Safe training via Agriculture ITO and in doing so, our staff gain NZQA qualifications.

Safety & Quality

Landcorp's FARMPRIDETM quality assurance programme is an integral part of having a safe work environment. In delivering best-practice farming standards FarmPrideTM puts priority on maintaining tidy and safe facilities on each Landcorp property. To ensure we are meeting our own standards we conduct FarmPrideTM audits biennially using external auditors.

Work Safe is Externally Rated

Since 2000, the Company has held 'Tertiary' status under the Accident Compensation Corporation's Workplace Safety Management Practices Programme. This externally audited status, the highest available, reflects the commitment of Landcorp's staff to Work Safe.
