Our Business

Strategy

Landcorp Farming seeks to maximise sustainable financial returns to the shareholder while maintaining high standards of people management, environmental practice and corporate citizenship.

Our core business competencies include:

  • Continuous improvement in farming operations towards raising their productivity and profitability, and promoting sustainability in the use of resources.
  • Maintaining diversification of production, especially in the dairy and deer sectors, to limit exposure to the negative affects on group revenue of agricultural product cycles.
  • Development of employees through training to support the knowledge and skill requirements of the business, and through effective people management systems.
  • Geographic clustering of farms to secure economies of scale and to achieve "best fit" between the types and locations of properties and Landcorp's farming objectives.
  • Development of land for high production pastoral farming, including the conversion of land from other purposes.
  • Sustained improvement in sheep, beef and deer genetics to enhance productivity in Landcorp flocks and herds, and provide Sires of proven valueTM to other commercial farmers.
  • Development and sale of land that has higher value for purposes other than farming, most notably residential/lifestyle subdivision with joint venture partners through Landcorp Estates.
  • Development and marketing of farm management and related services to other commercial farmers and rural investors.
  • Promotion of environmental, economic and social sustainability in rural New Zealand through a wide range of targeted initiatives, including research & development on Climate Change issues.
