Sales of Breeding Sires

Landcorp Farming has a long history of breeding rams, bulls and stags for its commercial farms. The current demand of 500,000 ewes, 35,000 beef cows and 65,000 hinds are the driving force behind Landcorp's genetics programme. Selection of sires that increase valuable production traits contributes long-term economic benefit to Landcorp's commercial farming business.

With the genetic merit of Landcorp's sires well established and the supply of quality sires assured, Landcorp has joined with Rissington Breedline to form Focus Genetics. This joint venture provides genetically superior sires to commercial farmers who share the pursuit of performance gains through animal breeding.

Strategic breeding with maternal and terminal lines allows commercial farms to use the differentiated strength of superior genetics to optimise their farm returns.

Landcorp's sheep breeds, Romney and Landmark as maternal and Lamb Supreme and Texel as terminal breeds are complemented by the company's Angus and Simmental cattle, and deer herds based on Red and Wapiti.

Landcorp has proved the ability of its sire breeding programmes to continually improve the physical and financial performance of commercial sheep, cattle and deer farms. Sires from these breeding programmes are available for sale to farmers outside Landcorp through Focus Genetics.
