Landcorp Farming is a State-owned Enterprise, owning or leasing 374,948 ha of land.  With 105 properties and 1.5 million stock units, we are New Zealand’s largest farming operation.

 

Sweetwater Station is in the Far North,10 km north-west of Kaitaia.  The complex comprises three dairy units and a support block, milking a total of 2450 cows.  Dairy Unit 3, with a team of 4 full-time staff, milks 850 cows through a 70 bail rotary cowshed with cup removers.

 

The Dairy Production Manager is accountable to the Farm Manager and, with his support, is expected to take a leadership role in the team.  This involves taking a degree of responsibility for feed allocation and budgeting, animal health and breeding, animal records, and staff guidance and supervision.  This 2IC position offers a supportive team environment, good working conditions and modern facilities and machinery.

• Have knowledge of animal husbandry
• Have technical understanding of dairy systems
• Have some computer skills and a willingness to learn new systems
